Move over Oprah!  Skooter Pie has just formed his own book club and will be making recommendations on newsworthy books that are coming out.  Currently a huge bestseller is the new  book, Dewey, by Vicki Myron.  Although the talent agents have called to see if I will play him in the movie, I had to decline due to numerous speaking engagements throughout the Northeast.  Besides, you can that I have a huge pile of reading to catch up on!

However, I did recommend having Jennifer Aniston play the role of Vicki.  I think she could do a terrific job in the lead role and would do the book justice.    This book is a pure delight!  This book covers three topics:

Dewey Readmore Books (the name is a tad pompous if you ask me but then again, no one consulted me on how to name this cat) was discovered on a cold morning in the book chute by the library director, Vicki Myron.  Although he was practically near death from exposure, Vicki and everyone else in the community make this cat a major asset for not only the library but the town of Spencer, Iowa.  This cat is similar to me - Mr. Personality, very warm, outgoing, and loving of everyone in the world.

Vicki's life - this poor woman did not have it easy but as a single mom she got herself an education, became director of a quintessential small town library and made a wonderful life not only for herself, her family, but for Dewey and many other members of the town of Spencer.  She sounds like a terrific woman and I'd like for her to give me a hug if she ever comes east.

The Town of Spencer, Iowa - although I'm an east-coast type of cat, this sounds like a wonderful town - tall corn, a nice downtown, good people and some decent values.  I'm sure there is some good pot roast to be had in this town!

If you're a sucker for feel-good books about incredible cats, this is the book for you.  There are a lot of laughs and a few tears in the book as Vicki discusses the trials and tribulations of being with this cat.

My only criticism of the book is that the black and white pictures of Dewey at the beginning of each chapter do NOT do justice.  The publisher could have provided a section with some nice color glossies that he deserves.  You can find them at the Spencer Library website.  The picture shown above is from their website and you can purchase some incredible postcards which can be framed, used as holiday cards, and more!
